Karate

Jake started Karate this month. He is the youngest one in his class. Usually they only allow 4+ year olds in Little Dragons, but Ms. Lynda (his old choir teacher) talked the instructor into it since her daughter is an assistant instructor there. He does his best to keep up with the big boys. He has only gone 3 times, but looks like we will be buying the black karate outfit. Hi Ya!

Homeschooling

Our first week of homeschool went well, despite Jake and Reagan both being home all day (preschool didn't start until Aug 17). Learning about the weather and rainbows in science class.
We learned about air. Here the girls do an experiment to see water displacing air in a bottle.

Not formal art class, but they had fun painting.

One of the nice things about homeschooling is that it is perfectly ok to come dressed as a ballerina (or in any other dress up outfit).

PBJ, goldfish and grapes for lunch.

Riding her scooter for recess.

First Day of School(s)

Rachel's first official day of homeschool kindergarten was Aug 10. We didn't have any bus stop to take pictures at - since she just had to walk down the hall from her room to go to school.
Jake is going to preschool 3 days a week this year. He whines when I tell him he is going to school, but when I say he is going to see Ms. Joanne he gets very excited. Go figure.

Reagan goes to preschool 2 days a week. The other days she homeschools with Rachel. She is never excited about new situations so she doesn't look happy at this open house picture.

MN Zoo

Notice how Jake sticks out his tongue to feed the giraffe a cracker.

Feeding the giraffes at the MN zoo.

Look it's Bruce!

Reagan wasn't fond of the smell of the prarie dogs who were cleaning out their holes.

The MN zoo got rid of the dolphin show, but still had a couple dolphins in the tank to watch.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? We can barely see you since the exhibit wasn't designed well.

Uncle Vern's

Jake really liked being at Uncle Vern's house - of course he has 3 four wheelers. However, Jake did not like the face Uncle Vern had on the tree. Jake called it "the talking tree" and was so scared of it at one point that he wouldn't go outside until Uncle Vern took it down.

Shiver me timbers

It didn't barely get above 80 degrees while we were in MN. that didn't leave us too many opportunities to use Grandpa's pool. the few times we did get in the UNheated pool, we had the shivers.

The Dry Park (as opposed to a water park)

Grandma has the best parks around. America's tax dollars at work.
